Celebrating Earth Month: Our Ongoing Mission to Give Chimps a Second Chance

This Earth Month, we’re partnering with Project Chimps to help give former research chimpanzees like Haylee and Kareem the safe, dignified life they deserve.

Earth Month Means More Than Just Green Living—It’s About Giving Back

Every April, we celebrate Earth Month not just by raising awareness about sustainability, but by supporting those making a real difference for animals and the planet. This year, we’re proud to partner with Project Chimps, a nonprofit sanctuary dedicated to giving retired research chimpanzees a second chance at life.

Who Is Project Chimps?

Located on over 230 acres of lush forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains of north Georgia, Project Chimps is the newest chimpanzee sanctuary in the United States. Founded to provide lifelong, high-quality care to 200 former lab chimps, this incredible organization is currently home to over 90 chimpanzees.

Meet Haylee and Kareem—Our Sponsored Chimps

This Earth Month, we’re proudly sponsoring two of Project Chimps’ residents: Haylee and Kareem.

Meet Haylee

At just 15, Haylee is the youngest in her group—and the life of the party. With her long arms, quick wit, and love for play, she’s always keeping caregivers on their toes. Her favorite game? “Fishing for humans.” She pokes her rubber toy through the mesh and waits for someone to take the bait. Spoiler: she always wins—then falls back in a fit of chimp laughter.

Haylee’s joyful spirit and close bond with her best friend Tristen remind us why sanctuary life matters.

Meet Kareem

Kareem’s story is one of strength. Taken from the nursery at age six, he spent nearly 30 years in labs—moving from one research facility to another. But even then, there was something about him. Caregivers remember a quiet wisdom in his eyes, a spark that never faded.

Now, at Project Chimps, Kareem is finally home.
He’s the calm, respected leader of his group. Gentle, fair, and surprisingly playful. Just one stomp of his foot can launch a game of chase with his favorite caregivers.

Today, Kareem is exactly who he was always meant to be: strong, social, and free.

Why This Partnership Matters

We believe Earth Month should be more than feel-good tips—it should be action. That’s why we’re donating a portion of sales this April to Project Chimps to help provide food, enrichment, and veterinary care to chimps like Haylee and Kareem.

But this is just the beginning. Our goal? Sponsor more chimps. Help more lives. Make a bigger impact.

And you’re a part of it.

Every Bag Counts

Whether you're buying poop bags,  or sharing this story with a friend—you're helping us build a world where animals are safe, not exploited.

Because Earth Month isn’t just about picking up after our pets—it’s about picking up where others left off.

Let’s keep going.
