The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) stands as a beacon of hope for animals across the nation. As a leading animal advocacy organization, HSUS works tirelessly to confront and resolve systemic issues affecting animals on a massive scale.

Mission and Vision

HSUS's mission is both noble and challenging: to fight for the protection of all animals, A-Z! They aim to create a world where animals are not subjected to cruelty or neglect. This overarching goal drives their extensive range of activities, from direct care and rescue to influencing public policy.

Key Areas of Focus

  • End the cruelest practices toward all animals.
  • Care for animals in crisis.
  • Build a stronger animal protection movement.

HSUS are advocates for system-wide and long-term impact, working strategically to improve the lives of animals.

They go big. They take on the toughest, most institutionalized cruelties. They rescue and care for animals in crisis. They strengthen the capabilities of our teammates and allies so that their impact is amplified. They work globally and locally, and in all of their work, they seek enduring solutions. Rather than focusing on symptoms, they address root causes and build capabilities to drive lasting change.
